Get Involved
"My friendships at the shelter have taught me to accept me for me... and I learned to love myself."

Give and Receive

Serving at the Southridge Shelter is about getting to know people in a real way. That's our vision for all who get involved. Through serving a meal, answering the phones, or participating in recreational programs — we are getting together to build authentic friendships with the people we serve.

Our dream would be that, through relationship, we begin to discover that despite individual circumstances, we are all on a journey where we can learn and grow together.

When getting involved here, you can expect to be welcomed into a community. You can expect to find a role that allows you to live out your strengths and serve in a practical way, while also making some really fun friendships!

Shelter Open House
Jun 3rd, 11:30am

We have a wonderful team of volunteers who play an essential role at Southridge Shelter — and we are always looking for more people to add to this team.

If you are interested in volunteering, you can attend an Open House which will provide you with an orientation of the Southridge, an explanation of all available roles and a brief tour of the facilities. The open house event is offered once a month.

Please contact Annie Duross to let her know if you are planning to attend.

Ottawa Manifesto

The Ottawa Manifesto is the result of a committee of people passionate about serving the poor and marginalized as a way to serve Christ. It articulates a strong vision for homeless friends in our communities; provides motivation to those working closely with the homeless and serves as a "call to action" for many. Southridge Shelter is a signatory to the Ottawa Manifesto.
