Jason and Corina Reimer as well as their boys Jesse (5) and Chase (3) are on their way to Asia for the next 3 years to help transform a community in Thailand. The Reimers will be working in a poor fishing village, focusing their efforts at an orphanage, called The Abundant Life Home, for HIV/AIDS affected children, as well as supporting a new church, called The Friendship Centre. Their assignment at the orphanage will include maintenance and oversight of construction projects, administration, hospitality and respite for the "house moms." They have just completed a 3 1/2 month training program and are currently raising a team of supporters. They are planning to fly to Thailand at the end March but they have committed to having all of their funds committed before they leave Canada. While they are closing in on having all of their one-time costs (flights, language school, house set-up, etc) committed, they still need to raise about 50% of their monthly costs for the next three years.
Here are a couple ways that you can find out more about their mission:
- Sunday, February 12th: Meet the Reimers at the North End Location, in the Cafe, after the morning service.
- Saturday, February 18th: Gourment Dinner to raise funds and allow Jason & Corina to share their vision. This event seats 50 people and the cost is $20/person.
- Friday, February 24th: Coffee House with live music, dessert buffet, silent auction, penny sale and an introduction to Thailand and their heart of mission.
