I’m a two-time former resident of the Southridge Shelter and just felt a need to thank all of the volunteers who help make the shelter feel like home to so many people.
I am still amazed that so many of you selfishly devote your free time to help make it run as it does. From the wonderful smiles, helpfulness and caring we get from the front desk volunteers, to all the work that I see former residents doing to keep the place looking great. I think you are all amazing and thank you.
I wanted to give a special thank you to the people who make and serve the meals every day, 365 days a year. It really made me feel amazing that whole families come in, prepare and serve us homeless people. Wow! Thank you.
And a very special thank-you to the parents who bring their kids in with them to help, and then sit with us for dinner. Most of us are use to being treated as second-class citizens, but you allow your kids to eat meals at the same table as us and talk with us. You have no idea how good that makes me feel.
Thank you all for making Southridge work and feel like home to so many people. Thank you so much. God bless!!
